Doctor Who: 20 Faces That Epitomise The Eleventh Doctor
10. The Eleventh Hour
The era of the Eleventh Doctor kicked off with an almighty crash, bang and wallop (but not necessarily in that order) back in The Eleventh Hour which pretty much set the precedent for the rest of his TARDIS tenure. This moment from his first episode illustrates everything his incarnation stood for as he quite literally came swinging into action when the TARDIS hurtled out of control over the skies of London. Ever the lucky hero, he only just missed a rather close and unfortunate encounter - *ahem* - with Big Ben, too, and at that point his face pretty much said it all. Suffice to say, he (and us) were already exhausted as he managed to clamber back aboard the exploding TARDIS and the brand spanking new opening titles hadn't even aired yet. As always, though, the Doctor took his crash landing in his stride and it's a good job he did, too, because it was to be only the beginning of the timey-wimey drama. It all escalated very quickly after that and Steven Moffat has never been one to ease his audience in gently. The Eleventh Doctor had well and truly arrived and in his opening moments he narrowly missed getting smacked in the knackers by London's most iconic landmark. Brilliant.
