Doctor Who: 20 Things You Didn't Know About The Ninth Doctor

14. Clive's Website Was Actually Real

Doctor Who Rose the Ninth Doctor
BBC

In the Ninth Doctor's first episode, Rose meets a man called Clive to discuss the Doctor – or, more specifically, to discuss the question: Doctor who?

We're shown that Clive has created a website called whoisdoctorwho.co.uk, which contains a huge picture of the Ninth Doctor, and a request for people to contact Clive if they have any information about him – which of course, Rose does.

This site wasn't just created for the show though – it was actually created in real life too, and was still live as of the early 2020s, though today it redirects to the official Doctor Who website.

The site was written from an in-universe perspective, and contained pictures of the Doctor along with stories of "confirmed sightings". So, if you'd ever seen a strange man running in and out of a phone box, you had somewhere to share your story!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
