Appearing as the slimy politician Margaret Blaine - who is actually a member of the alien Slitheen family, disguised in a human skin-suit - Annette Badland delivered one of the most underrated villain performances in modern Doctor Who.

She was so good in her trio of episodes that showrunner Russell T Davies wanted to bring her back for the Series 4 finale, but alas, this plan never came to fruition.

Since leaving the show after the 2005 series, Badland has lent her voice to numerous Big Finish audio productions, and away from the Whoniverse, she's enjoyed a strong career, with countless credits across both the big and small screens.

On the film side, she had a small role in the Tim Burton adaptation of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, and later, she appeared in the 2017 festive flick The Man Who Invented Christmas, which starred Dan Stevens as Charles Dickens.

On TV, she's been in everything from Eastenders to Outlander to Midsomer Murders, but most recently, she was seen in the brilliant Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso, which has already been renewed for a second and third season. Hell yes.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
