Because he died when she was young, Rose Tyler never knew her father, but in a standout Series 1 episode, she got to meet him for a brief amount of time.

As played by Shaun Dingwall, Father's Day is Pete Tyler's sole appearance in the 2005 series, but he did return in the following year, where he faced off against the Cybermen and the Daleks - at the same time.

Since leaving Doctor Who, Dingwall has appeared in countless film and TV projects, with a couple of video games thrown in for good measure.

Said video games include Dragon Age: Inquisition, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, and Dragon Age: Origins, while his biggest film credit is easily the 2017 drama Goodbye Christopher Robin, which co-starred Margot Robbie and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

He played Pete once again in Big Finish's Rose Tyler: The Dimension Cannon in 2019, and recently bagged a recurring role in the alternate history drama Noughts + Crosses, alongside another fellow thespian, Stormzy.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
