Series 10's 'Empress Of Mars' ended up in the rather interesting situation of being a sequel to some classic stories, and a prequel to another.
The fact that the Ice Warriors are antagonists for most of the episode sets it as a sequel to their early appearances. However, their redemption towards the end, as well as Alpha Centauri appearing to invite them to the Galactic Federation, makes 'Empress Of Mars' a prequel to the two classic-era 'Peladon' stories.
As an extra special classic connection, original actress Ysanne Churchman, 91 at the time, returned to voice Alpha Centauri for the character's cameo.
