3. Why Did The Doctor Need More Regenerations In The Time Of The Doctor?

The Doctor has come to the end of his final life in 'The Time Of The Doctor', but help comes from an unexpected place. The Time Lords use the remaining temporal crack to send a brand new regeneration cycle to The Doctor from their pocket universe to Trenzalore, enabling the Doctor to defeat the Daleks and regenerate.

But, as 'The Timeless Children' adds to the story, the Doctor is the Timeless Child, a being with endless regenerations. The Time Lords gained their ability to regenerate by taking it from the Child and using it on themselves. If the Doctor truly is the Timeless Child, that implies he is the exception to the 12-regeneration limit. So why did the Time Lords send him a new cycle?
