2. Matt Smith's Involvement Has Been Teased
As previously mentioned, returning characters are always a possibility when heading into an anniversary special - and that includes returning Doctors.
After all, anniversary specials have a history of also being multi-Doctor specials, which raises the question of which Doctors we might see next year.
At the top of the fan community's wishlist is Matt Smith, who hasn't been seen in the role since his cameo in 2014's Deep Breath. Smith has made no secret of the fact that he's game for more Doctor Who, and as one of the most popular Doctors of all time, he'd also be a logical pick on RTD's part.
Adding fuel to this Matt Smith fire is 60th anniversary director Tom Kingsley, who cheekily photoshopped the Eleventh Doctor into an on-set photo.

Now sure, Kingsley is clearly just messing with the fans here, but there could also be an element of truth sneakily hidden under the cover of a joke. Remember when RTD started posting about "RTD2" right before his return was announced?
With the classic Doctors getting plenty of time to shine in The Power of the Doctor, it would be fitting to see the modern Doctors get the same treatment in 2023.
