Doctor Who 60th Anniversary: Predicting Chances Of Every Doctor Returning

4. The Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith)

Matt Smith is another Doctor who's highly likely to join the 60th party.

Not only is he right up there with Tom Baker and David Tennant as one of the most popular, beloved Doctors of all time, but he's previously mentioned that leaving Doctor Who is a "great regret" of his, and he seems very open to the idea of playing the Eleventh Doctor once again.

As the star of the previous anniversary special, Smith also understands how exciting these occasions can be, and you can bet that he's eager to experience that hype all over again, only this time, with a lot less pressure on his shoulders.

Oh, and lastly, RTD has previously mentioned the idea of doing a mini-series with Doctors Ten and Eleven. That doesn't mean such a series will happen, sure, but it could be a sign that the Eleventh Doctor is on the showrunner's mind.

And considering how well that Ten/Eleven combo worked in The Day Of The Doctor, how could RTD resist the temptation to utilise that chemistry in the 60th?

Chances: 8/10.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
