Doctor Who: 7 Actors Who Should Never Be Cast As The Doctor

3. Benedict Cumberbatch

benedict cumberbatch Before you send the death threats, just hear me out first. Benedict Cumberbatch is an incredibly talented actor we all know, love and adore from his performances as Sherlock Holmes and John Harrison. With the news that Sherlock has been renewed for two more seasons (which means at least six more feature length episodes), that's a pretty big trade off for us Moffat fans to make. With Sherlock already in a several year hiatus due to Cumberbatch's Star Trek Into Darkness commitment and Martin Freeman's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey commitment, Cumberbatch agreeing to take on the Time Lord role would mean a 13 episode commitment each year which would no doubt lead to the end of Sherlock. I mean, we've waited this long just because of his role in one movie that's not much shorter than two episodes back to back! Now if he were cast as the Master, on the other hand... that's a much different story. Moffat, please do.
