Doctor Who: 8 April Fools' That You Hate Yourself For Believing
5. The Meddling Monk Returns
But probably not the one you were expecting! In fact, back on April Fool's Day 2011 DoctorWhoTV 'exclusively' revealed that presenter Graham Norton had been cast as the next incarnation of the Meddling Monk, a villain from the Classic Series who interferes with the events of history for his own entertainment. The report claimed that the renegade Time Lord would be back to hinder the Doctor's every move as he tries to save Planet Earth from another invasion by the Autons, which sounds pretty plausible as episode synopses go. Needless to say, Graham making an guest appearance in the series is somewhat overdue, since he has already popped up in it accidentally on two separate occasions. His voice was heard during the opening moments of the NuWho premiere, Rose, and then an animated version of him appeared on the screen during The Time of Angels' climactic cliffhanger back in Series 5. Well, that's one way to kill the mood!
