Doctor Who: 9 Funniest Episodes Of The Revived Series

1. New Earth

Well, you were expecting this one to be at the top of the list, weren't you? It's a widely acknoweldged fact that New Earth is the funniest NuWho episode to date and it probably won't surprise you to find out that it was actually written as such, too. Russell T Davies penned the story to give David Tennant and Billie Piper the chance to "be funny" and you only have to watch what they get up to on screen to see that they well and truly relished the opportunity to stretch their comedic muscles. David Tennant is camper than Christmas (in the best possible way) when his body is taken over by Lady Cassandra ("Oh baby, I'm beating out a samba!") and who will ever be able to forget the image of Billie Piper admiring her "rear bumper" as she bounces up and down in front of the mirror? It's like living inside a bouncy castle, apparently. It certainly made for a memorable series premiere but set the precedent it did not as things pretty much went downhill - narratively speaking - for the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler after that. It was something new, though, and an interesting way to introduce the nation to their new Time Lord after he'd spent the majority of his first episode confined to a bed. It also meant that David and Billie could snog each other's faces off, and that's what everybody really wanted to see, right? Right?! Oh. You'd better let Russell T Davies know... What did you think of this list? Are there any other funny revived series episodes that should have been included? Share the LOLs in the comments section below!
