Doctor Who: BBC Centenary Special Trailer Breakdown - 11 Things You Must See
3. The Master Is The Main Antagonist?
Final return of the list, the Master is back... with long hair and beard?
With a surprise debut in Series 12, Sacha Dhawan has proven to be the defining big bad for the Thirteenth era, so his return makes sense.
The Master's return was kind of an open secret, playing into the full version of the previously mentioned Time prophecy: "Beware of the forces that mass against you... and their master". So taking that all literally, it looks like it's the Master bringing the Daleks and Cyberman (and others?) together for one big scrap with the Thirteenth.
This is the first time the Daleks, Cybermen and Master have been in the same episode since the Five Doctors, but they never actually shared the screen, so who knows if we'll get that this time round.
We get two appearances of the Master in this trailer, one clean shaven and one with incredibly long locks and beard. Is this suggesting once again (similar to Spyfall) we'll see the Master across a long passage of time? If it's down to personal choice, your writer thinks he should go back to the middle ground and stick with the shorter beard.
Facial hair aside, it cannot be denied Dhawan's Master has been a highlight of this era and it's good to have him back. What role will he play in Thirteenth's regeneration. Speaking of which...
