Doctor Who Character Study - The Master

The Fifth and Sixth Known Masters (Derek Jacobi and John Simm)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEObBX_HwFc At some point toward the end of the war, the Master fled, and apparently regenerated. Now calling himself Professor Yana, he used Time Lord technology to make himself appear and think like a human. Said human was kind, caring and gentle, and working on a way to save all of humanity at the end of the universe. Then his memories were restored. He killed his assistant, but in the process she struck a fatal blow against him. He regenerated into a younger-looking man. The Master then stole the Doctor€™s TARDIS and went to Earth. Calling himself John Saxon he worked his way into politics and eventually became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. This turned out to be part of a grand scheme of his to€you know, I€™ve never been sure what, exactly. But he did turn the Doctor into a House Elf, I remember that. I also remember the Doctor being saved by everyone wishing really hard for him to be saved, and the Doctor then flying. The Master was understandably displeased by all of this, but before he could do anything he was shot by his wife, and died in the Doctor€™s arms. But, of course, that wasn€™t the end, either. Eventually a group of witches or something got together around a magic cauldron and used the Master€™s horcrux to bring him back to life. The Master then used a bit of tech to make everyone in the world into copies of him for reasons never made very clear. Of course he was defeated by the Doctor, and then sacrificed himself to save the Doctor from the revenge of Rassilon. Thus was the Master destroyed forever and ever and ever, honest, he€™s never coming back again, we promise, unless the writers want him to. As I said at the start, the Master is a very entertaining character no matter who plays him. But when they bring him back, which they will, I would like the writers to consider a few things. First, make the Master more like the Delgado version and less like€well, every single other version of the character. Second, since every time he gets €œkilled€, we fans know it€™s only temporary, I€™d like to see him defeated without being €œkilled€. This happened often during the Third Doctor€™s time, and there€™s no reason it can€™t happen again. At the very least it avoids any potential horcrux crap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKsIrGUV4ew
