Doctor Who: Everything We Just Learned At Comic-Con 2021

7. The Series Will Air "Later This Year"

Remember when the BBC refused to give us a firm release date for Revolution Of The Daleks, and all we kept hearing was "It's a festive special" until literally a month before it aired? Well, that release date stinginess is continuing with Series 13.

Surely, at this late stage in the game, they know when this thing is going to be on the telly, right? So why can't they tell us? Perhaps they want to get the entire series in the can before making an exact date public (there's still more filming to be done), and while this is a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things, it's still a wee bit frustrating that the BBC didn't provide a more precise release window.

But on the plus side, it's good to know that the series hasn't been pushed into 2022!

While the early seasons of NuWho traditionally kicked off in the spring, things have become much less predictable over the last decade or so: Series 7 started in September, Series 8 started in August, and Series 11 started in October. There have actually been some rumblings that Series 13 might feature a Halloween-set episode, so October seems like a pretty good bet.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
