Following the recent on-set snaps of Doctor Who€™s new companion, the first official shot of Jenna-Louise Coleman in her new role has been released. The former Emmerdale and Titanic actress joined the cast of the sci-fi show a couple of months back, and in May began filming alongside her Doctor, Matt Smith, on episodes to be broadcast in Spring 2013. Yet there is still a certain amount of mystery surrounding her character. Steven Moffat is yet to confirm the name of the Doctor€™s new companion, although it is thought to be Clara after the name was overheard during filming, but it looks like we are finally getting to the juicy stuff and hopefully more information about Clara and the upcoming series will soon follow. The official photo released yesterday sees Matt Smith€™s Doctor looking his usual dapper self, with bow tie still present and the new addition of a waistcoat to his ensemble, while Coleman looks very sweet and coy but if previous companions in the last several years are anything to go by she isn€™t going to be a shrinking violet. Talking on the Doctor Who blog, Smith commented on his new sidekick, saying,
" is going well. Jenna brings a really different energy to the show €“ one which I think is very interesting."
Coleman will first appear in the Christmas special this year, as well as a the second half of the new series.
