Doctor Who: Flux - 15 Huge Details We Just Learned About Series 13

4. Dan Starkey Returns As A Sontaran

Dan Starkey has played the Sontarans for over a decade at this point, so who better to don the makeup for their grand return in Series 13?

The actor is set to appear in episode two - and possibly other episodes - as a Sontaran called Svild, presumably a member of the Sontaran army that partakes in the Crimean War.

This means that Starkey has played a Sontaran under every NuWho showrunner, including roles in The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky, The End Of Time, and A Good Man Goes To War, the episode in which he first debuted as recurring character Strax.

Elsewhere, Starkey also played one of Santa's elves in Last Christmas. Talk about versatility.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
