The cliff-hanger After dying billions if times, the Doctor finally breaks through the crystal wall to escape the confession dial and arrives on Gallifrey. Oh and he is the hybrid. Does it work? The mystery and the heartbreak of Heaven Sent that sees the Doctor die again and again and again all builds up to this momentous cliff-hanger that sees the Doctor find a way through to his trapped homeworld. The idea of seeing the Doctor approach the majesty city is awe inspiring and revealing that he is the hybrid is the icing on the cake. The only thing that lets it down is that the BBC released a synopsis of the final episode, which referred to Gallifrey, meaning this shocking cliff-hanger will have lost its appeal for some. Overall Rating 9.5/ 10. A daring cliff-hanger that brings the Doctor home to Gallifrey much sooner than expected. Added to that the revelation that the Doctor is the hybrid it only loses the top spot because of the BBC's pre-emptive synopsis that sign-posted its return.
