Big Finish brought an even longer touted spin-off to life with their UNIT solo series, though. The alien-busting organisation have been saving the Whoniverse since 1968 so if anyone deserves their own show its these guys.
UNIT follows the two female faces of the organisation from recent years: Jemma Redgrave's Kate Lethbridge-Stewart - daughter of the beloved Brigadier - and Ingrid Oliver's Osgood, the geeky cosplayer/possible Zygon. In the three box sets released so far, they have faced fan-favourite monsters like the Autons and the Silence.
Centred around the sort of full-throttle, global-level alien invasion stories that every Doctor Who fan loves, UNIT is probably Big Finish's strongest revived series spin-off. And the next box set sounds like the best one yet: classic characters Jo Grant, Mike Yates and Sergeant Benton are set to return to help Kate and Osgood fight the Silurians!
