4. The Doctor Is Linked To The TARDIS
There are hints throughout the history of Doctor Who that the Doctor is in some way connected to the TARDIS on a more than superficial level. The Doctor visibly jerks, even while unconscious, when Clara uses the TARDIS telepathic interface to escape from the end of the universe. Has any other Time Lord lived within a TARDIS as long as the Doctor? They appear to work symbiotically, sensing each others needs and reacting accordingly. It is easy to mistake the relationship between the Doctor and the TARDIS as captain and ship but it is more likely to be a partnership of equals. Perhaps they are so intertwined at this point that one cannot exist without the other. The TARDIS is not transport but an instigator of adventure. She often chooses the destination and the Doctor respects that choice and willingly works to correct any imbalance he discovers in that part of the universe.
