Doctor Who Review: Listen - 10 Ways The New Doctor Is Revealed
3. The Doctor Has To Know
Orson Pink is an interesting parallel to the Doctor. He is an explorer who leaves his home to time travel and is trying to get back to his family. He is damaged by spending too much time alone. Of course he could have just stayed home in the first place but it is our curiosity that sets us apart. We would never have developed an advanced civilization without it. We delude ourselves that money is important but the only real currency is knowledge. The Doctor understands this implicitly. He is burning with the need to know. This Doctor is experiencing a period of great growth. He is letting go of the past and allowing himself to look to the future. He is giving himself permission to hope. He is committed to learning as much as possible and in turn imparting that knowledge to others. This Doctor is in school and the universe is his classroom.
