Doctor Who Review: The Caretaker – 10 Clues To What The Doctor Is Doing

1. Heaven

Caretaker01 This episode ends with a trip to Heaven. Is the police officer unambiguously dead? Could he and the others we€™ve seen be a set of captured memories like River in the Library, echoes of their former selves? The man at the desk implies that Missy is god. Yet what is a god but something more advanced and therefore not yet known. They are often knocked off their self-proclaimed pedestals once the eyes and minds of the faithful are educated and opened to other possibilities. While €œThe Caretaker€ was a weak story saddled with a routine plot it more than made up for it in the exploration of the growing relationship between the three main characters. Series eight is shaping up to be a good one with a stronger Clara and the intriguing addition of a soulful Danny. Peter Capaldi€™s Doctor is sharp and funny with a surplus of attitude hiding a touching vulnerability. The TARDIS remains in good hands.
