Doctor Who Review: The Husbands Of River Song – 5 Reasons To Love This Christmas Gift
2. Supporting Players
Special mention needs to go to the guest actors as they all do an excellent job even when asked to perform as just a head. Interestingly the real villain of the piece is not any of the humans but the robot body that has a distinctive mindset of its own. The robot was a risk as it might have come across as too silly or just plain clunky but instead the conceit is fun and effective. Rowan Polonski as Flemming the waiter plays his part to smarmy perfection. He is part Douglas Adams and part Monty Python and portrayed with a delicious flair. Greg Davies as Hydroflax is a fantastic blend of shouty, pompous and ridiculous while Matt Lucas is wonderful as the much put-upon Nardole. They all could easily have been overshadowed by such strong leads but each manages to hold his own.
