Doctor Who Review: The Zygon Inversion – 6 Reasons Why This Story Wins The War

5. Outrage

Bonnie€™s assault on a fellow citizen and the revealing of his Zygon form to the public is a pointed commentary on the practice of outing. In contemporary society outing is a way of forcing a person to reveal their sexual orientation or gender identity without their consent. Bonnie€™s actions are not only a violation of privacy they are profoundly hypocritical as she purports to fight for the right of Zygon autonomy without showing any qualms to the harm she causes an individual. The man€™s confusion and pain as he is dragged into a war he wants no part of is heartbreaking to witness. This is the cry of every innocent bystander trapped in the middle of political decisions that care little for the concerns of the individuals they supposedly seek to protect. An ideology, like a corporation, is not a person but a construct. It has no compassion. It will not mourn for the man whose life it destroyed.
