Doctor Who Series 11 Finale: 3 Ups & 3 Downs From 'The Battle Of Ranskoor Av Kolos'
1. The Doctor's Moral Compass Is Broken
It's been a talking point already in Series 11, but it feels like Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor sometimes doesn't know where to stand when it comes to her own moral decisions. After bluntly telling off Graham for wanting to kill Tim Shaw (as The Doctor always would) she willingly let Yaz put her own sanity on the line when she offered to help save the Earth. Letting a companion put themselves in the firing line is not something The Doctor does willingly.
The fact there is positivity oozing out of every pore on The Doctor’s body, I’d have thought she’d have the same approach to any given situation as Doctors Nine, Ten, and Eleven; trying to get the best out of everything unless things really go south. The Doctor having this approach isn’t just a given though, and can’t just be assumed with the character, as Doctor Twelve was a grumpy Scotsman, trying to be sympathetic to those in need. It’s a huge hole in the Thirteenth Doctor’s character. This moral compass needs to be calibrated going into the New Year's Day special and into Series 12. Otherwise, The Doctor in this case feels like a hollow parody.
