Doctor Who Series 9: 22 Easter Eggs You Need To See

21. Game Of Who

The big addition to the cast of Doctor Who this year was, of course, Maisie Williams as ME. Not me (maybe one day...) but ME as in Ashildr, a young girl he meets in a Viking village, who later becomes immortal and continues to pop-up in the Doctor's timeline, generally not for the better. Williams is best known for her role as Arya Stark on HBO's Game of Thrones, hence the reason why her appearance on Who was something of a big deal. However, she wasn't the only one to appear this year, with Murray McArthur also appearing in The Girl Who Died as Hasten, after featuring in Thrones as Wildling Elder in this year's rather epic Hardhome. Continuing on that theme, there was also a role for Paul Kaye, aka Thoros of Myr, the Red Priest who frequently revives Beric Dondarrion. He played Prentis in the two-parter Under The Lake/Before The Flood. Thrones actors being in Doctor Who is nothing new, with numerous appearing over the years, including David Bradley and Who writer Mark Gatiss.
