Doctor Who Theory: Why We Won't Meet The 14th Doctor Until The 60th Anniversary

2. ...And Russell T Davies Will Want To Enter With One

Enter Russell T Davies who, as stated previously, has claimed to be a fan of Chibnall's work and could seize the opportunity of the Timeless Child arc for his own grand return.

The obvious choice then, with Davies' involvement, is to have that previous incarnation for the 60th be Ten. Sadly, it's unlikely Christopher Eccleston would return to the role with Davies' involvement, and David Tennant does form the successful face of Davies' tenure on the show. Tennant's involvement as the lead Doctor is also a stark reminder of just why Davies was so successful as showrunner, and makes a good introduction of his work to younger fans.

Of course, it doesn't have to stop with Tennant. Why not celebrate all of Who's history by having the Doctor go on a massive adventure which involves confronting their past, by having multiple regenerations into older versions of previous incarnations? We could see various classic Doctors return to their roles, a final farewell from Jodie Whittaker, and even see how the Doctor becomes Tom Baker's Curator.

The official 14th Doctor would then come in at the closing moments of the episode, with Chibnall's era fully wrapped up and everyone's favourite Time Lord ready to take on a new era of adventures.

This is of course speculation, but there is also one other important point to make...
