Doctor Who: What Happened To Each Doctor After They Left The Show?

Last Regular Episode: The Caves Of Androzani

Peter Davison had a much shorter stint on Doctor Who than Tom Baker did, first appearing in 1982 and departing in 1984. But considering that he was a pretty big TV star even before his time on the show (thanks to comedy-drama series All Creatures Great And Small), he still has a lucrative TV career to this day.

In the decade or so after leaving Doctor Who, he landed small roles in TV shows like Heartbeat, Magnum P.I. and Jonathan Creek, and continued working throughout the 2000s on the likes of Midsomer Murders, Miranda, and even Sherlock, with an uncredited cameo as the voice of the planetarium in the series one finale. Most recently, he appeared in Gentleman Jack, a drama set in Yorkshire in the 1800s.

Unlike the prior Doctors on this list, Davison has not yet returned to play the character in a mainline episode, although he did share the screen with David Tennant in the 2007 Children In Need special, Time Crash.

That's not his only connection with the Tenth Doctor, either: Davison's daughter, Georgia, is actually married to Tennant, and played Jenny in the 2008 episode The Doctor's Daughter.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
