Dreamcasting The Watchmen TV Show
7. Jon Hamm - The Comedian
The Comedian is arguably the most important character in Watchmen, and after Jeffrey Dean Morgan's stunning performance, the stakes are higher than other characters. It is vital that they cast an actor who not only has the acting chops for such a role, but experience with antiheroes in a television format. Jon Hamm is a perfect choice for the role, especially once you slap a mustache on him and some Star Spangled shoulder pads.
No one plays the conflicted antihero quite like Hamm as Don Draper, and he varies from Morgan enough that the two won't clash with one another. While the Comedian veers into blacker morality more often than Hamm's smooth adman, his role in Baby Driver is enough to show he can not only play a gray character but also go into villainy.
It's necessary with a character like the Comedian that he not only be capable of disgusting acts of violence but also somehow charming. Hamm pulled off something similar, if not as extreme, for years, so the considerable charisma he would bring to the role should not be discounted.
