Emmys 2017: Who Should Win Every Major Award (And Who Actually Will)

3. Lead Actress In A Drama Series

Elisabeth Moss The Handmaid's Tale
Hulu

Nominees

Viola Davis - How to Get Away with Murder

Claire Foy - The Crown

Elisabeth Moss - The Handmaid’s Tale

Keri Russell - The Americans

Evan Rachel Wood - Westworld

Robin Wright - House of Cards

Who Should Win

Elisabeth Moss

The Handmaid's Tale is well acted across the board, but Elisabeth Moss gives an absolutely stunning performance that stands as one of the year's best (and, as far as this category goes, the best). It's simultaneously powerful and restrained, leading to a shattering portrayal of Offred, and one done largely through Moss' facial expressions, which are able to convey every thought and emotion to both devastating and triumphant ends.

Who Will Win

Elisabeth Moss

She may have been constantly overlooked for Mad Men, but this should make up for it. Moss gives a performance that's been incredibly well-received in a series that's already garnered plenty of Emmy love, and Alexis Bledel taking home the Guest Actress award is a good sign. Still, this is an extremely strong group, with Foy perhaps the best poised to threaten Moss' chances of being crowned.
