Going into this year's ceremony, it was pretty much nailed-on that Julia Louis-Dreyfus was going to be taking home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. The star won for the same role six times previously, and with this being Veep's final year, everyone expected her to take home that seventh award.

Of course, that didn't happen, and instead Phoebe Waller-Bridge beat out the competition to the top spot for Fleabag's Season 2 premiere. Again, it's not an undeserved win, and there's no denying it was an Emmy-worthy performance, but nobody expected it to best Louis-Dreyfus' victory lap.

It did though, and added to the success story that defined Fleabag's (and Waller-Bridge's) entire night.
