Every Classic Doctor Who Companion Ranked From Worst To Best

Doctor Who Ben Jackson

Ben was a companion of the First and Second Doctors. He, with Polly, witnessed the first regeneration in the show's history and was instantly unsure of the new, eccentric incarnation of the Doctor.

He met Polly first, stumbling into an adventure when he entered the TARDIS with her and it dematerialised. Though sceptical, as he thought the Doctor may be a hypnotist of some sort, he had actually ended up in Medieval Cornwall, after which the adventures began in earnest. However, together with Polly, he noticed the Doctor beginning to rapidly show signs of his age.

He killed a Cyberman with its own weapon during the events of the Tenth Planet, something that haunted him for years to follow. He stayed with the Doctor long enough to meet Jamie McCrimmon, then left with Polly after they arrived back on Earth on the same day that they left. Years later, it was revealed that they had married.
