14. Nyssa Of Traken

Nyssa Doctor Who1
BBC

Nyssa was from Trakenite nobility, who encountered the Fourth Doctor and Adric at the wedding of Tremas and Kassia. The wedding was also attended by The Master, who she defeats at the cost of Kassia's life. Though she believes the Master defeated, she leaves in the TARDIS before the decaying Time Lord kills and takes control of her own father.

Her first adventure with the Doctor saw the Time Lord regenerate and the end of the Traken Union, effectively making Nyssa the last of her kind. When the Fifth Doctor was born, she helped him find his way back to the TARDIS. She travelled with this incarnation, along with Tegan and Adric, helping them with her knowledge from her world. She was also present during the events of Earthshock, witnessing Adric's death as his ship crashed into Earth's atmosphere.

She travelled with the Doctor for years, saying goodbye to Tegan twice, as she left and rejoined the crew. Tegan was witness to Nyssa's departure after the latter had become infected with Lazar's disease. Though cured, she elected to remain and attempt to cure the illness in others, bidding the Doctor a final farewell.
