Every Classic Doctor Who Companion Ranked From Worst To Best

Doctor Who Resurrection Of The Daleks Tegan
BBC Studios

Tegan was a brief companion of the Fourth Doctor, meeting him just before his regeneration in the Fifth. Her aunt, Vanessa, was killed by the Master in the moments as she stumbled into the TARDIS, creating resentment on Tegan's part for the Time Lords, though she eventually came to accept travelling in the TARDIS.

She was close to Nyssa of Traken and initially heavily distrusted Vislor Turlough, though was present to watch him renounce his allegiance to the Black Guardian.

Her time in the TARDIS was filled with plenty of excitement, though she was left behind by the Doctor on one occasion, must to her chagrin. They did find each other again, yet even then her patience was being tested. The final straw for Tegan came after the events of Resurrection of the Daleks, wherein a Dalek Civil War resulted in so much death and bloodshed that she could no longer handle exposure to Time Travel and adventures in space. She and Vanessa had a saying - try a thing for as long as its fun. For Tegan, travelling with the Doctor wasn't fun anymore and she quit.
