Every Classic Doctor Who Companion Ranked From Worst To Best

3. Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart

Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart Doctor Who
BBC

Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart is one of the most infamous companions of them all, primarily associated with the Third Doctor, though introduced to the Time Lord in their Second incarnation. He had helped to found the Unified Intelligence Task Force. He worked closely with the Doctor, Jo Grant, Liz Shaw and Sarah-Jane Smith and was present to witness the Third Doctor's regeneration into the Fourth Doctor.

From this point, the Brigadier wracked up more adventures than almost any other companion, even joining multiple incarnations during the events that led them to Rassilon's tomb. Somewhere along the way, he found the time to have a family, becoming a father to Kate Lethbridge-Stewart who would go on to encounter the Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors.

According to some accounts, Alistair died around 2010, before being reincarnated as a Cyberman. Controlled through he was by Missy and her Cyber-army, he managed to save his daughter and retain part of his humanity. However, the manner of his death, in that he would die in bed, had been foretold while the Doctor was still in his Seventh Incarnation. It is said that all of the Doctor's Incarnations threw caution to the winds and appeared at his funeral, standing as honour guard for him.
