Alfred Pennyworth has made an abundance of TV appearances over the years and still nobody expected him to headline his very own show. But that's arguably what makes Pennyworth so intriguing, because in spite of his well-documented comic book history, you still have no idea what to expect from it.
It's still finding its footing, but the first season of the Batman prequel proved to be a very well-orchestrated British spy drama that doesn't even remotely feel like it was inspired by a superhero comic book.
And with Jack Bannon's compelling reinvention of Alfred, it seems like Pennyworth is destined for even greater heights in Season 2.
