Every Doctor Who Series Opener - Ranked Worst To Best
6. Partners In Crime
You'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't like Donna Noble and Wilfred Mott. So re-introducing them as Series 4 regulars was a great move on the part of Russell T. Davies.
While Catherine Tate's comedic chemistry with David Tennant is perfect, their reunion scene is the hilarious high-point of the episode and it sets in motion the best Doctor/Companion partnership of the revival era (sorry Captain Jack fans).
And although the execution of the little fat aliens, the Adipose, is a bit weak, Sarah Lancashire's Miss Foster is a delightfully menacing one-off villain.
We also get our first glimpses at the return of Rose Tyler as well as the disappearing planets plot thread. Overall this is a proper series opener. A fun self contained story that lets the viewers know what to expect, as well as hinting that something worth pretty spectacluar is on the horizon.
