Every Episode Of Atlanta Season One Ranked Worst To Best

6. Episode 8 - The Club

Atlanta, Donald Glover
FX

By the eighth episode of Atlanta's first season, the show not only establishes who its main characters are but what their dynamic is. And it's in episode eight, The Club, that we learn some things about Earn and Alfred's relationship as not just cousins but business partners. The episode solidifies a dynamic that is carried into the second season;

Maybe one of them is not cut out for the music business, and the other is being anchored down?

A simple nightclub appearance to boost Paper Boi's credibility proves to be more trouble than it's worth; as Earn spends the night chasing down the club's shady owner. When Earn does finally confront the owner; he neither has the physical or verbal skills to get what's owed to him.

For Alfred; he and Darius spend the night in their underwhelming appearance at the club, being dunked on by a more successful rapper (with his own invisible car!). Alfred's rap career as Paper Boi could have flourished had Earn been a more staunch negotiator.

Earn's lack of managerial initiative in this episode foreshadows many things to come later in the series, and it's Alfred, who once again has to pick up the pieces.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
