Every Episode Of The Witcher Ranked Worst To Best

3. The End's Beginning

The Witcher
Netflix

You know that you have a lot in store for you when the opening episode of a show hits you with so much. This introduction to Netflix version of The Witcher instantly shows how much they are pouring into it, with set-pieces that rival Game of Thrones even in its latter stages. The dramatic opening, compelling battle and phenomenal fight choreography instantly get you invested.

The introduction of Geralt works well here, as you very soon wholly understand his character even if you're unfamiliar with him. Any doubt people have over Cavill's position as the lead in this show wash away as soon as his harsh but fair version of The Witcher begins talking.

The episode starts intense and then slows itself down, playing very well with pacing. There are moments of great speed and then peaceful contemplation which allows for the structure of the show to become apparent.

Also, the main storyline surrounding Geralt and the Curse of the Black Sun is a very simple but compelling concept, brought to life brilliantly by the character of Renfri and the conflict over choosing the lesser evil.

Additionally to this, the Nilfgaardian attack on Cintra is utterly action-packed and densely full of intrigue, character and charm.
