15. Tanner '88 (1988)
Tanner '88 took a look at politics like no other show in the history of television. Presented as a political mockumentary, it followed the fictional Jack Tanner, a US representative played by Michael Murphy, as he attempts to win the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.
The show starred actors and real-life politicians, and had no issues pointing out the imperfections with politics and the media in funny and candid ways. Though upon release it was met with mixed reviews, Tanner '88 is one of those rare organisms that only gets more relevant and true-to-life with time.
