Every MCU TV Show Ranked From Worst To Best
10. Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D: Season 5
Coming after such a stellar former season was always going to be a tough job for S.H.I.E.L.D's writing staff, not to mention they attempted to copy that show’s championed split arc story structure.
Things start off with a bang as the opener sends the cast of heroes into space and far into the future. It’s such a drastic and ballsy shake-up that for the first couple of episodes they're able to excitedly mask what is really just generic Sci-Fi TV 101 - with a one-note villain and dull new cast members to boot.
Things switch up mid-way and thankfully leave space behind, entering a new plot of intrigue with some clever time-travel logic, an awesome Deathlok cameo and even interesting connections to Avengers: Infinity War. The later half holds up much better and finally utilises the characters of Yo-Yo (who goes full Secret Warriors here) and General Talbot, with new addition Deke (Jeff Ward) quite likeable as well.
The cast and dialogue are on fantastic form so even if the broader strokes of arc stumble, it’s all very watchable regardless. It pales in comparison to season 4 yet at least gets an A for effort.
