Every Rowan Atkinson Film & TV Project Ranked From Worst To Best

24. Johnny English Reborn

Johnny English Reborn Rown Atkinson
Universal Pictures

Probably the most forgettable instalment in the series, Johnny English Reborn would revive one of Atkinson's most iconic roles following an eight year hiatus.

The plot this time finds English now ostracised, his short-lived national hero status swiftly revoked after the failure of a subsequent mission, the film opens with the spy having taken refuge in a Tibetan monastery. However, he is offered a chance at redemption in protecting the Chinese premier from assassination, and exposing double agents within the fictionalised MI7.

Much like its predecessor, the project would attract some serious acting talent to support the lead, including the likes of Gillian Anderson, Rosamund Pike, and Dominic West. As well as this, Daniel Kaluuya's prominent role as Agent Colin Tucker was an important stepping stone in his transition from talented British television actor in the likes of Skins, to Academy Award winning blockbuster star.

A strong commercial return, matching the original film almost exactly in terms of revenue, would ensure that fans had a shorter wait for the third instalment in the series, in the form of 2018's Johnny English Strikes Again.
