Family Guy: 10 Most Controversial Moments
5. "I Need A Jew"
You've got to work pretty hard to get an episode banned when your show has a reputation like Family Guy's, and this one only went and did it. This musical number is arguably tame compared to some of the show's other jokes, but that didn't stop it from becoming mired in controversy and keeping the episode off Fox for years.
The "I Need A Jew" song comes from the season three outing, "When You Wish Upon A Weinstein"; an episode which follows Peter as he forges a friendship with a Jewish accountant after wishing for a "Jew" to come into his life.
This episode's centrepiece is a parody of the classic song "When You Wish Upon A Star", but instead of being the cute tune of a talking cricket, it became Peter's loving ballad as he wished for a Jewish person to fix his finances.
Of course, the song is littered with stereotypes and gags that can quickly come across as anti-sematic. Again, by Family Guy standards, it could have been a lot worse, but Fox's desire to steer clear of it wasn't entirely unfounded.
