The fact that Seth MacFarlane himself has openly admitted that he regrets this joke says it all. This infamous scene poked fun at one of America's biggest national tragedies, and really didn't land. It acted as an early sign of the controversy that would always follow the Griffins.

This moment came during the fifth episode of the first season, "A Hero Sits Next Door". The episode can easily be called a highlight of the show's early years as it introduced the beloved character of Joe Swanson. But, this ten-second clip is what people remember from it best.

During the episode, Peter and Brian find themselves in a hostage situation, which leads to police firing off a shot. However, the bullet strays far from its target and heads towards a young boy proudly holding a JFK Pez dispenser, and, well, you can probably see where that is going. Afterwards, the child states, "Good thing I still have my Bobby Kennedy Pez dispenser".

Making jokes at the expense of not one but two infamous political assassinations is a bold choice for a show's fifth episode, and the outrage from this gag certainly reflected that.
