8. Lies To Kate About Not Being A Dog
Another in the long list of Brian’s selfishness and lack of respect for the people he dates. That theme is present in at least half of all the entries here, and when everything’s stacked up, it’s probably his biggest flaw.
This isn’t the worst example, hence why it’s in eighth, but it’s possibly the most outlandish. While dating Kate - who’s blind - Brian pretends to be a regular human after she offhandedly mentions disliking dogs.
If this was an anthropomorphic, BoJack Horseman style world, Kate’s viewpoint could be seen as a metaphor for racism. But with Brian being the only talking animal around, it’s not Kate who’s the weird one but the several Quaghog women who are apparently into dogs.
Regardless of how and why Brian is usually able to date human women, it’s clear that Brian is exploiting Kate’s disability to force her into something she likely wouldn’t have agreed to had she known the whole truth.
He does somewhat get his comeuppance when he tries to fool Kate’s (not blind) parents, dressing up in bandages and enlisting Stewie’s help. The chaotic meeting sees Brian get his tail cut off and the wound painfully cauterised, which serves him right, really.
