Family Guy: 5 Reasons Why Bringing Brian Back From The Dead Was A Mistake

5. It Ruins Seth MacFarlane's Reputation

Though Seth MacFarlane gave fans exactly what they wanted by reviving Brian on Family Guy, the show-creator still managed to come out of the whole ordeal looking pretty bad. After toying with viewer's feelings in November, to the extent that some threatened to boycott the show and set up petitions to have their favourite character brought back from the grave, MacFarlane dropped the insensitive, crass message on Twitter:
"I mean, you didn't really think we'd kill off Brian, did you? Jesus, we'd have to be f***ing high."
Not only does that statement insult fan's intelligence, many of whom DID think Brian was dead, but it also ridicules them for the hysteria kicked up in the immediate aftermath of his demise. Are we just supposed to shrug it off when one of our favourite characters die? Having invested in Family Guy since its inception 14 years ago, it's only natural that fans would care about Brian, who has appeared in every episode ever made. Yet MacFarlane doesn't buy into that, happy to unravel the very fabric of the show at his whim and then laugh at those affected by his decision to brutally murder a popular character. To make matters worse, he claimed Brian's revival was some big, insightful, profound nugget of wisdom, rather than the blatant grab for viewer's attention we all know it was, adding:
"And thus endeth our warm, fuzzy holiday lesson: Never take those you love for granted, for they can be gone in a flash."
