Fargo has a lot of reputations to uphold with season three, not least its penchant for great casting choices. The likes of Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Allison Tolman, Kirsten Dunst, Patrick Wilson and Ted Danson have all lent captivating performances to the show, and the next season appears to be following suit.

Names already attached include Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who put in a career best performance in 10 Cloverfield Lane last year, Carrie Coon (Gone Girl), David Thewlis (Harry Potter), Shea Wigham (Boardwalk Empire), Scoot McNairy (Monsters), and oddball comedian Jim Gaffigan.

It’s a solid ensemble of genre actors, most of whom have extensive experience in crime dramas, thrillers and deadpan comedy, the three core elements that make Fargo what it is.
