The Flash: 19 Easter Eggs And References You Have To See

15. Good Police

Speaking of being a crime scene investigator, it looks like The Flash show is going to be leaning heavily on the official law enforcement of Central City, along with this quick-footed costume-wearing interloper. Joe West, the father of Iris who helped raise Barry after the death of his mother and the unfair jailing of his father for her murder, is a creation just for the TV show. The other officers seen throughout the pilot, however, have their roots on the printed page: Detectives Fred Chyre - the one chilling with West at the start - and David Singh - the one exasperated by the ironically-tardy Barry - both started life in the comics. Chyre is another resident of Keystone City who appears to have been transplanted to Central, at least temporarily. He's a tad older when dealing with Wally West's Flash, and considerably less relaxed; he's not crooked cop or anything, but he does have some anger issues which have resulted in suspensions and disciplinary hearings. It remains to be seen if he spends any time in an interrogation room this season. Singh, meanwhile, has had his role changed considerably from the comics - rather than acting as the preeminent Crime Lab Director for the Central City Police Department who gave Barry a job, he appears to be a detective himself, with little time for the CSI boys.
