This past year Arrow began hinting at a much larger and fascinating world with the discovery of the Mirakuru serum, a serum which would give someone super soldier-like abilities and make them nearly unstoppable. Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke, displayed a superior level of skill and strength that rivalled Oliver's and anyone else who challenged him. He and his army of superpowered thugs caused a world of trouble for Arrow and his team, opening the door to a much stranger world, but it was Barrys accident which really caused that door to crack in the first place. The trailer shows Barry as being one of the first meta-humans to appear, but one of the intriguing elements shown in the trailer is how the particle accelerator accident created other meta-humans as well. Weather Wizard has quite a presence in the trailer as hes the first rogue (pun intended this time) Flash goes up against, but rather than controlling the weather through technology as in the pre-52 comics, hes gained the ability to control the weather himself. The fact the trailer emphasises others have been affected by the accident leads into the next point about how The Flash may be influenced by another well-known CW superhero show.
