Friends: 25 Lessons That Completely Changed Your Life

3. Everyone Has A Lobster

As expounded by Phoebe in Season 2 episode the Lobster Theory (S2E14), the theory of the same name states that we all have a soul mate, a significant other who we truly love and are supposed to be with for the rest of our lives, regardless of the journey to get there. In the Friends universe of course this means that each pair of mated souls must overcome significant adversary to get together: Mike and Phoebe overcame Mike's aversion to marriage; Chandler and Monica overcame Chandler's fear of commitment, and a whole world of other issues, and Ross and Rachel overcame being Ross and Rachel. Even Joey gave up meat in his sandwiches for a while. According to Phoebe, it is a known fact that when lobsters fall in love, they mate for life and you can actually see the old couples walking in tanks, holding their claws - so there's some more science we learned by accident.

2. "We Were On A Break" Is Never A Good Excuse For Cheating

Seriously, just don't try it.

1. You're Nothing Without Your Friends

At the end of the day, it all boils down to just one phrase: "I'll be there for you." Friends are there to overcome mental illness, morbid obesity, nose jobs, divorces, lesbian wives, hating your job, being robbed, being stalked, and more than anything being delightfully, irresistibly dysfunctional, and though there may be beaded hair, romantic ups and downs and accidental proposals along the way, they are the one constant that matters.
