Friends Cast: Where Are They Now?
5. Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe)
Phoebe was a bit of an oddball amongst the Friends, and until Mike she seemed like a bit of an outlier. He helped bring her closer to a typical lifestyle, and gave her a happy ending long after the show ended. Lisa Kudrow though has had an ‘early Phoebe’ style career, straying off the beaten path with some weird and often wonderful roles.
The more typical parts came in Bandslam, Love & Other Impossible Pursuits, Easy A and a recurring guest role as formerly comatose owl Wanda in BoJack Horseman.
The Comeback was an early example of her starting to get more experimental though in 2005, where she plays an ex celebrity desperate for fame. When she reprised the role ten years later having not done anything too major since Friends in the general public’s eye, there was more than a little meta to it.
Sitcom Web Therapy had an interesting premise too, with Kudrow playing an internet therapist who only offers three minute sessions. Three seasons and a few Friends actor cameos followed, before the show was ultimately cancelled. More success came in Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, although nothing has surpassed Friends.
